99 Days In Baja In A Truck Camper
For years I’ve been dreaming of spending winter exploring the Baja peninsula eating delicious tacos and drinking cheap cervezas while camping on beautiful beaches. Finally in January of 2024 I organized my paperwork, updated Google Translate, purchased Mexico car insurance, and crossed the border in Mexicali. Little did I know that the next 99 days in Baja in a truck camper would be more than just a great adventure, it’d be the start of lifelong friendships and many great stories!
A week into the trip I met the start of a traveling community. Our growing Baja Crew of nomads from the United States and Canada bounced around from beach to beach, lost voices due to late night karaoke concerts, ate fish tacos, drank Tecate rojas, paddled, lounged at pool parties, watched parades, and shared lots of beachside sunset happy hours.

In 14 weeks I covered more than 2,600 miles around the Baja Peninsula, explored quiet pueblos and tourist towns, surfed Pacific waves and paddled on the Sea of Cortez, partied late into the night and spent quiet sunrises sipping coffee with my toes in the sand. The desert landscape merging with the tranquil turquoise waters of the Gulf of California was really special, but what I’ll remember the most were the friendships made, experiences shared, and the group of strangers that truly became a family in our Baja Crew.
